Mrs. Laurie Breast Cancer Story

Hello my name is Laurie and I am a four year breast cancer of survivor of stage 3b. Additionally, I was diagnosed in 2012 with ovarian and colon cancer. I was ill for about two months prior not knowing what was happening. I went into the hospital twice prior to my diagnosis they kept telling me I had a stomach virus I was unable to go to the bathroom for weeks. Finally, one doctor came in the emergency room and said, “Ms. White you need to know what’s wrong”. I responded by saying, “I’m not leaving till I find out what’s wrong with me”. Eventually I had an MRI done and a tumor was found I was admitted and surgery was scheduled…for three months I remained in the hospital. However, the killer was when they went in to remove the colon it had spread to my ovaries…hence the ovarian cancer. During this time I had a hysterectomy. After my 3 month stay in the hospital approximately one month later I was in chemotherapy for eight months. October 15, 2012 I completed chemotherapy treatment and on November 15th reports revealed that I was cancer free! I never thought this would be my story. Cancer is a horrible disease I am now at my ever 6 month checkups now. I pray to God that it never returns. I am thankful for my life and use my experience as a platform to educate others about this horrible disease. My testimony is one of encouragement and proof that God is real!!!
